The Yakker Maker system includes this site, several mobile apps for blind and low-vision users and related support tools.

Your typical day probably starts with the news: radio, YouTube and Telegram channels, news sites…
You cheer yourself up with your favorited music or a quick scroll through reels, exchange SMS and WhatsApp messages with friends and family, listen to podcasts or audiobooks on your way to work, or browse social media…
At work you search for information online or share it with colleagues.
In your free time you watch movies or read. If you feel like it, you jot down your thoughts and sometimes share them in those same social networks or messages…
Consuming and creating content goes on all day long – it’s an essential part of our lives.
But why are you here ?
Wait a second – you didn’t just stumble onto our site by accident, did you ?
Maybe there’s someone close to you for whom all this is really hard: a blind or visually impaired relative or friend, and you want to help ?
That’s exactly what we do. We create apps that not only deliver all kinds of content as sound (audio, video soundtracks, and text-to-speech from different sources) but are also as simple to use as possible.
Like you, we know this problem firsthand. We started solving it for ourselves – and soon realized we could help many others, too.
What's good about our apps ?
- Our end user apps use the best software components for playing various media files and streams and voicing text, and also provide easy control using a voice menu, voice input and gestures in full-screen mode.
We've provided a very important feature - reliable context: the end user always knows where he is. - As an end user assistant, you don't need to have deep technical knowledge; we provide the simplest and most intuitive way to install and configure all of our apps.
Required assistance
- Installing and setting up our apps on devices
- Sending us logs (if needed)
- Remotely editing content (through this website and Google Drive)
Independence
Users do not need assistance or accessibility tools to use our apps.
Current status
At this stage, our apps are hosted on this site and are available only for Android. In the future, we plan to publish them in standard app stores and support other platforms.
We continue to add new content types and sources, new features and new apps.
